Daily QT: 08/22/2007 Mark 6:30-31
30The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught. 31Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, "Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest."

How many times have we been so busy that we forget to eat? It is at these times that we need quiet time with God the most.
when i read these verses it reminded me of beginning of this year when i was so busy and caught up with doing ministry. my LG and i were involved with so many different things, that we neglected our own personal time with God. and then a sermon by missionary david park really convicted me - that you can't give if you dont feast on God. when your relationship with God is barren because you have no time to just dwell in His presence, you become nothing but a cannibal, devouring from your ministries.
i was really burnt out and so were all my LG guys. we realized that we need to go into that quiet place and just soak in His presence and fill ourselves up with refreshment that can only come from having a constant relationship with Him before serving in any ministry.
Jesus is calling me today to take time out and come meet him. It's great that disciples go around doing and teaching. There's a need and we are called to participate in the Kingdom work. Yet, I too am convicted today that I get so caught up in the things that I miss out on the rest that He offers. May all my work born out of this state of rest. Help me seek you today. Amen.

I think these verses convey a very important message to us. Many of us are involved in more than one Christian ministries, such as church, bible studies etc. As we get too caught up withwith church and bible study matters, there is a danger that we might lose our focus on Christ. In other words, our passion and efforts are directed toward the work that we have to do, rather than totally relying on the work of Christ. Hence,it is important of each one of us to retreat back a quiet place and to get some rest in Christ, meaning to spend some quality time with Him one-to-one to regroup our thoughts.
