Daily QT: 08/28/2007 Mark 6:51-56

51Then he climbed into the boat with them, and the wind died down. They were completely amazed, 52for they had not understood about the loaves; their hearts were hardened. 53When they had crossed over, they landed at Gennesaret and anchored there. 54As soon as they got out of the boat, people recognized Jesus. 55They ran throughout that whole region and carried the sick on mats to wherever they heard he was. 56And wherever he went—into villages, towns or countryside—they placed the sick in the marketplaces. They begged him to let them touch even the edge of his cloak, and all who touched him were healed.

Just the sight of Jesus brought great hope. Just the touch of Jesus brought great healing.

I believe that even saying his name heals me. Through him anything is possible!

The unfortunate part is that of the healed ones, how many kept their faith to the end?
I'm sure most of them were turned away from Jesus when they were faced with hardship and persecution.

I heard a great sermon past Sunday about hardships in our life. That during the hard times, you can really see who the true believers are.

Then He got into (A)the boat with them, and the wind stopped; and they were utterly astonished, for (B)they had not gained any insight from the incident of the loaves, but their heart (C)was hardened.
53(D)When they had crossed over they came to land at Gennesaret, and moored to the shore. 54When they got out of the boat, immediately the people recognized Him, 55and ran about that whole country and began to carry here and there on their pallets those who were sick, to the place they heard He was. 56Wherever He entered villages, or cities, or countryside, they were laying the sick in the market places, and imploring Him that they might just (E)touch (F)the fringe of His cloak; and as many as touched it were being cured. ( 51Then He got into (A)the boat with them, and the wind stopped; and they were utterly astonished (Mark 6:51-56 - NASB)

The following verse is very challenging: "They begged him to let them touch even the edge of his cloak, and all who touched him were healed." These people believe that they will be able to experience the power of the Lord by simply touching the edge of His cloak. Though it sounds so simple, why can't we have this simple faith in Christ? During and after our weekly worship service, we always make big committments and promises to God that we cannot keep in our daily lives. Rather, we should sincerely pray to God to have the faith of these people, who desired to touch even the edge of His cloak.
