The Book of Mark
Chapter 3 (NIV)
20Then Jesus entered a house, and again a crowd gathered, so that he and his disciples were not even able to eat. 21When his family heard about this, they went to take charge of him, for they said, "He is out of his mind." 22And the teachers of the law who came down from Jerusalem said, "He is possessed by Beelzebub[c]! By the prince of demons he is driving out demons."

Why didn't Jesus' own family know who he was? Didn't Mary tell her family about Jesus' miraculous birth? Or did she not tell her children - because like most mothers, she didn't want to seem to favor one more than the others. But if she didn't tell them while they were growing up - why didn't she explain to them as adults?
20Then Jesus entered a house, and again a crowd gathered, so that he and his disciples were not even able to eat. 21When his family heard about this, they went to take charge of him, for they said, "He is out of his mind." 22And the teachers of the law who came down from Jerusalem said, "He is possessed by Beelzebub[a]! By the prince of demons he is driving out demons." (Mark 3:20-22 - NASB)
Again, we see a big crowd of people following Jesus.I assume Jesus' family was concerned about Him, since so many people surrounded Him. I guess what the teachers of the law say does not make really sense. As stated in the next verse, "how can Satan drive out Satan?"...Overall, we can see that the crowd is divided - one group sincerely believes in Jesus and want to know Him more with pure motives. On the other hand, there are some people who try to bring accusations against Jesus, due to jealousy and because they feel their authority and high status declining..... In which group are we in? Do I also have the sincere hope in Christ every day or do I just seek to find Him for personal benefits?
Yes even family members can be swayed by the publics gossip and call you crazy. Very sad that the family members will act in such way when they should be the last one on earth to stick by you and believe in you.
I find it interesting and again be reminded of that we never hear such accusation or hear much about demon possessions in present times. We aren't much different at all than the people living at that time. Only the technology, and basically materials we have are different but we are no different beings than 2000 years ago. People ate then, people eat now, people sin then, people sin now. It seemed that even nonbelievers or whichever religious values you have accepted the existence of demons. If one were to make such comment today, he/she would probably be put in the hospital. Amazing how the evil forces hide them selves so well leading people to pretty much rule out their existence.
I have to love how Jesus answers this question... which I'll wait for tomorrow to add.
