The Book of Mark
Chapter 3 (NIV)

7Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the lake, and a large crowd from Galilee followed. 8When they heard all he was doing, many people came to him from Judea, Jerusalem, Idumea, and the regions across the Jordan and around Tyre and Sidon. 9Because of the crowd he told his disciples to have a small boat ready for him, to keep the people from crowding him.

It makes me so sad to think of Jesus constantly being crowded by the mobs. How tiring and claustrophobic that must have been! People came to him out of need, but did anyone think of Jesus and his needs?

I think that is still the relationship that most people have with God and Jesus. We think of ourselves before him, even in our prayers.

Jesus withdrew to the sea with His disciples; and a great multitude from Galilee followed; and also from Judea, and from Jerusalem, and from Idumea, and beyond the Jordan, and the vicinity of Tyre and Sidon, a great number of people heard of all that He was doing and came to Him. And He told His disciples that a boat should stand ready for Him because of the crowd, so that they would not crowd Him; (Mark 3:7-9)

We can see a great multitude of people came to follow Him now because they heard "of all that He was doing (e.g. heal sick people, provide food for multitudes, explain the meaning of baptism and repentance, teach about the Kingdom of God etc...)." Among the many, I believe the teachings about God and the Kingdom of Heaven would have been the least interesting topic for this big crowd. Jesus points that out in Matthews 12:39, by pointing out to us as "a wicked and adulterous generation that asks for a miraculous sign." We should again think about our true motives and purpose to seek Christ. Aren't we also pursuing Christ "and try to make him king by force" so that He can create and show wonders and miracles in our lives? (John 6:15). How sincere and pure are my ways to follow Christ every day?

I guess he needed to filter those that follows him just to see miracles or to find faults, with true followers.
