13Jesus went up on a mountainside and called to him those he wanted, and they came to him. 14He appointed twelve—designating them apostles—that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach 15and to have authority to drive out demons. 16These are the twelve he appointed: Simon (to whom he gave the name Peter 17James son of Zebedee and his brother John (to them he gave the name Boanerges, which means Sons of Thunder 18Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon the Zealot 19and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.

I had always thought the 12 disciplines were chosen as special apostles from the very beginning. Here it seems that they were just some of his many followers. It shows that you never know what Jesus has in mind for you. Will we go when we are called?

Yes we never know what great plan we are being part of. Although we are nothing compared to God, we should not fall into the wrong thinking that we are completely worthless. We may be weak but we are worth a great value to God and that he uses us in his plan.

I think we are constantly called upon. The problem is our sinful nature and wanting to stay in our comfort zone and not move forward to God's callings.
