That is exactly how I would've felt and they were absolutely right! Indeed only God can forgive sins and Jesus was the perfect person to do that very thing.

I do feel sorry for those teachers of the law living at that time. I'm sure they were very confused with what Jesus was preaching and offended them. Without the right guidance and not believing in Jesus could really make someone blind. Of course if those teachers really followed the law, they would've believed in Jesus or at least had the heart to hear him out.

It is not surprising to see this kind of reaction from the teachers of the law. It would sound like a blasphemy to me too, if someone had said that in front of me. Desipte that, we as Christians should have our ears and hearts open to listen to the voice of Christ through the Holy Spirit. Even if the multitudes of this world ignore and deny the gospel, we should be the last men/women standing who eagerly await the return of our Saviour Christ. We should pray to God so that we can become stronger and a more faithful servant to Him every day, so that nothing in the world can shake our relationship to Him.

The reactions of the teachers of the law actually show how knowledgeable they were - they understood the ramifications of what Jesus said. They understood that Jesus was declaring himself as more than a mere man or teacher.

What I find most alarming now is the apathy of most people. In our PC, relative world today, we don't ever want to say that anyone is wrong. All religions are right. But if you really understand what Jesus is saying - you must either be overcome with awe or outrage. His claims are outrageous! And if he is a liar, then he is the most monstrous of liars. But if he is telling the truth . . . our lives MUST be changed forever.
