46Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (that is, the Son of Timaeus), was sitting by the roadside begging. 47When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!"
48Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me!"
49Jesus stopped and said, "Call him." So they called to the blind man, "Cheer up! On your feet! He's calling you." 50Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus.
51"What do you want me to do for you?" Jesus asked him.
The blind man said, "Rabbi, I want to see."
52"Go," said Jesus, "your faith has healed you." Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.

Interesting that this blind person was named. I imagine that he became a disciple of Jesus. I love that after Jesus heals the man and says that he may go, the man chooses to follow Jesus. I imagine that if Jesus allows us to truly see (not just literally but also figuratively), we would have no choice but to follow Jesus.
I pray that Jesus cures my blindness as well. He has already done so numerous times. My sight is restored and I follow joyfully But then little bits of dust and debris get into my eyes so that my sight becomes blurry again. Sometimes my eyes become hard and cataracts begin to form, narrowing my vision even more. If I would just remember to bathe myself and my eyes in the healing waters of the Word daily, I could save myself a lot of pain.
"Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus." I can definitely see this blind man's total faith in Jesus. If he had any doubt that Jesus couldn't have healed him, I'm sure he wouldn't have received it.
Yesterday's sermon at my church was about prayer and how to receive prayer answer from God. One of the most important thing our pastor pointed out was that one has to fully believe he/she will get the prayer answered. Having doubts will usually lead to unanswered prayers. Of course this doesn't mean that the answer to your prayer will result in your favor/wants but you will receive his answer.
WOW! I love your comment Sue Jin!
I can't describe it any better and I too pray that I'll continue to bathe daily with words of God.
"Jesus, (D)Son of David, have mercy on me..!" these words also apply to me. As a Christian, it's important to regain our sights, so that we don't lose direction, track and balance as we pursue His way.Personally, the KBS retreat was very challenging and I was able to taste the mercy of Christ given to me. Lee gwonsanim talked about the importance of "logos (the word given to us through the HOly spirit) " in our lives. He mentioned that we need to experience the touch and interference of the Holy Spirit if we really want to feel the word moving within us.
