27"You will all fall away," Jesus told them, "for it is written:
" 'I will strike the shepherd,
and the sheep will be scattered.'
28But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee."
29Peter declared, "Even if all fall away, I will not."
30 "I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "today—yes, tonight—before the rooster crows twiceyou yourself will disown me three times."
31But Peter insisted emphatically, "Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you." And all the others said the same.

I wonder if Peter thought twice before he disowned Jesus. Since he already heard that will happen, couldn't he think twice and then change his action? Of course word of Jesus is the truth and what he said always comes true.
I have to always remember no matter what my thoughts/views/wants are, I have to fully accept God's word.
if someone who actually lived side-by-side with jesus for a couple of years as his #1 disciple and follower failed three times to admit just knowing the living son of God, what does that say about what each of us "mere christians" 2,000 years later can expect to accomplish in our roles as disciples (can we do better than peter?) and as evangelizers (can we do better than jesus?)?
