Genesis 2:1-3 (NIV)

1 Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array. 2 By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested [a] from all his work. 3 And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.

God finished all His work by the seventh day and made it holy. Again, He did not rest because He was exhausted from His works. Rather, it was probably a moment when He could take a step back and just rejoice His creation, looking at His holy works. I believe that's exactly the reason why we also have to respect and value our weekly Sunday worship services at church. We are attending church services not only to listen to the sermons and sing praise songs. But rather, it should be a moment to reflect on the past week that we lived with Christ and just to rejoice in Him.
