Genesis 1:20-25 (NIV)
20 And God said, "Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky." 21 So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living and moving thing with which the water teems, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 22 God blessed them and said, "Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth." 23 And there was evening, and there was morning—the fifth day. 24 And God said, "Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to its kind." And it was so. 25 God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.

"And God saw that it was good..." We can see how God is pleased with His own works of His hands after each day. In fact, I think God rests on the 7th day not because He is tired, but He reflects on His accomplishments and rejoices all His creations... It's also interesting How God creates living animals and birds before He creates man on this earth. I once heard that animals during this times were at peace with each other. For example,a lion would not attack a sheep... It's the sin that enters the earth later, which causes distortion on this earth.....
It's wonderful to imagine God's nature of abundance here, of creating and multiplying, to "be fruitful and increase in numbers and fill the water in the seas...increase on earth." And He saw that this was good. God is abundance Himself, and He loves to see this happening on earth, to us, to be filled with His Spirit, and find enjoyment in Him.
On WM's comment that animals were at peace. Not only with one another, but with man. Animals had a relationship with humans - they were placed under the authority and stewardship of Adam and Eve. When they fell, animals fell. So most are savages, living in the wild. But even today, we see signs of some animals that kept some of the original qualities. Dogs and dolphins, for example. They are naturally attracted to have a relationship with people. As CS Lewis put it, a dog is most doggish when it is in a relationship with a Master, the owner. Otherwise, they become generic savages. The Lower does not stand without the Higher. We are mostly human when we are in a relationship with our Master, our Owner. Otherwise, a man without faith becomes a generic savage, only with the facade of sophisticated manners.
Wow thanks for the great post exilio!
Glad you joined us!!
I totally agree with CS Lewis regards to the relationship with dogs to human (servant to master) as well as human to God.
I do definitely believe that we as a human become what we were made to be when we are with God our master.
But in the absence of God we become savages.
