26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, [b] and over all the creatures that move along the ground."27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. 28 God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground." 29 Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food." And it was so. 31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.

God created man in His own image and blessed him in so many ways. All the creations up to day 6 were given so that man could enjoy and control them. Man was given the right to control, rule and govern over everything that was created on this earth. We should always remember that we were created according to His own king-like image and NOT as slaves to sins of this world. We should not be oppressed by anything of this world .
We were given dominion over the world, but as Spider Man likes to say "With great power comes great responsibility."
I'm sad to say that I think most of us abuse our authority over the earth. I pray that we all learn to be better stewards of the world in regards to the environment and how we treat animals. Rather than simply exploiting our natural resources, I pray we learn how to take care of them as well.
I remember in high school biology class having the rather cynical realization that humans were like cancer cells. We mutated from the natural order of things and spread like wildfire, killing other cells in the process. Sorry to be so glum - but I do think that when The Fall happened, we did fundamentally alter the natural order of things - bringing disease and death to the world. I am so grateful that God has a plan to redeem not only human beings but the world.
Again this shows how God planned everything out for us before even creating us.
How amazing that we are created in God's image and His likeness yet we do such ungodly things...
I remind this fact again daily so that I can ask the Holy Spirit to guide me back to my original state of creation.
