Genesis 8:20-22 (NIV)
20 Then Noah built an altar to the LORD and, taking some of all the clean animals and clean birds, he sacrificed burnt offerings on it. 21 The LORD smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: "Never again will I curse the ground because of man, even though [a] every inclination of his heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done. 22 "As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease."

The fact that Noah builds an altar to the Lord shows us that he gives all thanks and praise to God first. On the contrary, we don't acknowledge Him and give Him no worship when something good happens to us. Further, similar to Abel, Noah also gives his best portion of his possession to God, so that He is pleased by the aroma. We should seriously think about if we give Him our "first fruits" in our daily life. It's interesting to see that the scriptures tell us that God regrets the killing of mankind through the flood.
