Genesis 8:13-19 (NIV)

13 By the first day of the first month of Noah's six hundred and first year, the water had dried up from the earth. Noah then removed the covering from the ark and saw that the surface of the ground was dry. 14 By the twenty-seventh day of the second month the earth was completely dry. 15 Then God said to Noah, 16 "Come out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and their wives. 17 Bring out every kind of living creature that is with you—the birds, the animals, and all the creatures that move along the ground—so they can multiply on the earth and be fruitful and increase in number upon it." 18 So Noah came out, together with his sons and his wife and his sons' wives. 19 All the animals and all the creatures that move along the ground and all the birds—everything that moves on the earth—came out of the ark, one kind after another.

It's incredible to see someone alive at 601. How excited they must have been to see the ground dry! Finally, the door to the new life has been opened to Noah and his family. I guess they waited about 57 days (30 + 27)until the ground was totally dry before they came out of the ark. It must be a better and a more relieving feel than getting off a plane after a 14-hour flight....I assume it's similar experience to Moses' entering the new land of Canaan with his people. After more than 40years of wandering around in the desert, God finally let them in (except for Moses). Similarly, it's taken more than 200 days for Noah and his family to drift around in the floodwaters until they can enter new life on this earth.... God is also giving us a new chance and new life every day to live with Christ. I pray that His cleansing of my sins will renew me spiritually and guide me to live a new life today.

Again we see Noah's obedience and patience. I would have jumped out of the ark seeing that the earth was dry but Noah waits for God to command him to do so. If he suddenly popped out it is possible that the earth wasn't ready and could've killed him or the animals or something bad could've happened. But, he awaits for the Lord. It is no surprise why God favored him.

I too pray for such patience and obedience.
