Daily QT: 09/19/2007 Mark 9:33-35

33. They came to Capernaum. When he was in the house, he asked them, "What were you arguing about on the road?"
34. But they kept quiet because on the way they had argued about who was the greatest.
35. Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, "If anyone wants to be first, he must be the very last, and the servant of all."

33(A)They came to Capernaum; and when He was in (B)the house, He began to question them, "What were you discussing on the way?" 34But they kept silent, for on the way (C)they had discussed with one another which of them was the greatest. 35Sitting down, He called the twelve and said to them, "(D)If anyone wants to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all." (Mark 9:33-35 NASB)

Though the disciples kept silent when asked, Jesus knew what they were arguing about since He knows our innermost thoughts and intentions....These verses go very along very well with our EBS study of Matthew this semester. As we will progress with the chapters, we will learn more about Jesus who came to the world not to become a royal glamorous king who would restore everything on this earth to make us happy. But He will show us how to become low and humble as He did though He is the king....

It is kind of cute to see that the diciples were arguing over who would be number one among them. Though they were all grown man, they really seem like bunch of children following around Jesus.

I too am no different than a child right now. I pray that I grow day by day.
