depending on where you are in the world, it can be dangerous to mention what citizenship you hold (unless you're canadian). is there such a thing as a good time or a bad time for us to publicly display our christian citizenships? citizenship is a privilege granted to us at the pleasure of a higher authority and comes with specific shared rights and responsibilities that we can individually decide to accept or decline. this reference to christians being citizens of heaven reminds me that through Christ each of us has been granted an amazing privilege. the problem is that when we are secularly-focused and self-oriented, being a citizen of Heaven feels like an inconvenient burden rather than the unique privilege that it is. and we're often challenged to live according to the rules of our heavenly Father, whether anyone is watching or not.

we are all proud of the countries we come from and we try to represent with honor.
jesus is described here as "a savior" which struck me as a little general. i notice that different translations use "the savior" or "our savior." i'm not sure but perhaps "a savior" is in reference to the plurality of the Holy Trinity?

I've also been thinking about what it means to be a citizen - citizenship comes w/ rights and responsibilities. It represents the place you think of as home, no matter where you may actually be, and where your allegiances belong. What does it mean to be a good citizen? One who also gives back to the countrry and builds it up - rather than just taking. I think I could be a better citizen in both the secular and spiritual world. I think a part of spiritual maturity and growth - is moving from the receiving stage into more of the giving stage.

Good catch with "a" Savior. I wonder if it is kind of like the song "I need a hero." It's a wish/need/desire of everyone - for A savior, A hero - anyone, just someone to save us. Even if we don't know who that savior or hero may be. The Bible tells us that The savior has come, Jesus Christ.
