Daniel 5:1-4 (NIV)
1 King Belshazzar gave a great banquet for a thousand of his nobles and drank wine with them. 2 While Belshazzar was drinking his wine, he gave orders to bring in the gold and silver goblets that Nebuchadnezzar his father [a] had taken from the temple in Jerusalem, so that the king and his nobles, his wives and his concubines might drink from them. 3 So they brought in the gold goblets that had been taken from the temple of God in Jerusalem, and the king and his nobles, his wives and his concubines drank from them. 4 As they drank the wine, they praised the gods of gold and silver, of bronze, iron, wood and stone.

I still see so much of this happening in the current world.
I too find myself lost in praising god of golds, silvers, etc being amazed and appreciating the material things of this world... when all these are another things created by God.
I want to look beyond this world and seek His kingdom and His righteousness and not be boggled down with the worldly things.
As we can see, King Nebuchadnezzar deceased and his son Belshazzar has succeeded him as his heir. But similar to his father, Belshazzar also practices idolatry and forgets the grace and mercy of the Lord poured out during the reign of his father. He likes to indulge himself in the splendor of jewelries.... However, I don't think we are different from him. We also seek things that look good in our eyes and that give us comfort. We probably worship thousands of gods in our daily life... As Romans 12:2 says, we should not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Then we will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will....Amen
