Daniel 2: 6-11 (NIV)

6 But if you tell me the dream and explain it, you will receive from me gifts and rewards and great honor. So tell me the dream and interpret it for me."7 Once more they replied, "Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will interpret it. 8 Then the king answered, "I am certain that you are trying to gain time, because you realize that this is what I have firmly decided: 9 If you do not tell me the dream, there is just one penalty for you. You have conspired to tell me misleading and wicked things, hoping the situation will change. So then, tell me the dream, and I will know that you can interpret it for me." 10 The astrologers answered the king, "There is not a man on earth who can do what the king asks! No king, however great and mighty, has ever asked such a thing of any magician or enchanter or astrologer. 11 What the king asks is too difficult. No one can reveal it to the king except the gods, and they do not live among men."

Indeed no man can do what the king asks. But the king does have a valid point! What he asks is a prophet!

Only those that is given the wisdom from God can do such...

hmm I wonder WHO WILL SHOW UP?!?!?!?!?

These scenes remind me of how Joseph was called from the prison to interpret the dreams of the pharaoh. After the Pharaoh told Joseph about his dream of the "cows", the latter was able to interpret it correctly and was promoted as the right hand of Pharaoh to rule and manage the whole land of Egypt...But looking at the scene in Daniel 2 today, I believe that King Nebuchadnezzar's request is impossible and unreasonable to be fulfilled. How could his servants interpret his dreams if he doesn't tell them about it? Only our God Almighty knows all our internal struggles and thoughts within us. The King's frustration is understandable, but his arguments are nonsense. In the same way, there are problems and situations in life which cannot be resolved easily through our efforts and abilities. We should always remember that our Lord knows all our struggles, and He sincerely cares about each one of us. I pray that everyone of us will be motivated to pray more and spend some more quality time with Him.
