Continuation of Zechariah's Song:
71salvation from our enemies
and from the hand of all who hate us—
72to show mercy to our fathers
and to remember his holy covenant,
73the oath he swore to our father Abraham:
74to rescue us from the hand of our enemies,
and to enable us to serve him without fear
75in holiness and righteousness before him all our days.

What jumps out at me are the lines
"and to remember his holy covenant,
the oath he swore to our father Abraham:"
The Lord is faithful. He does not forget his promises.
I am so feckless in comparison. My commitment to the Lord feels like a stream - sometimes it is full of water and rushes mightily, sometimes it is rather shallow but sings merriy, or sometimes it is dry and dwindles down into little muddy rivulets.
Yet the source is eternally full if I will only draw upon it. The Holy Spirit is so very deep, and cool and refreshing. It never runs empty. The source is not the problem. I simply pollute the stream - clutter it with unnecessary garbage. My thoughts have been filled with everything else but the Lord. I pray that the Spirit will wash away my distractions so that I can draw upon it again once more.
