Genesis 15:6-11 (NIV)
6 Abram believed the LORD, and he credited it to him as righteousness. 7 He also said to him, "I am the LORD, who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land to take possession of it." 8 But Abram said, "O Sovereign LORD, how can I know that I will gain possession of it?" 9 So the LORD said to him, "Bring me a heifer, a goat and a ram, each three years old, along with a dove and a young pigeon." 10 Abram brought all these to him, cut them in two and arranged the halves opposite each other; the birds, however, he did not cut in half. 11 Then birds of prey came down on the carcasses, but Abram drove them away.

I truly have respect for Abram. How could he have believed the words of God so easily? It's no wonder that God credits it to him as righteousness. Some people claim that it was quite easy to earn salvation during the times of Abram, by just believing in the promises of God. However, I personally think that we are so blessed that we have Jesus Christ as our redeemer and Saviour who sacrificed Himself to make us righteous through His blood. Also, we should be thankful that God opened to us the gate to Him. We no longer need any of the mentioned animals to give sacrfice to Him, since we have our High Priest Jesus Christ who reconciled us to Him.
Abram has such simple faith. In the face of seeming impossibility, Abram believed the Lord. God reminds Abram of the past provisions and calls him to trust Him in the unblushing promises of future grace. All things aside, let my unbelieving heart believe in this awesome loving God.
although he had no idea how the things God promised him will come to be, Abram simply obeyed. i want every step that i take to be with that kind of faith, completely trusting in God.
