The Book of Joshua 5:13-15 (NIV)

13 Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked, "Are you for us or for our enemies?" 14 "Neither," he replied, "but as commander of the army of the LORD I have now come." Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence, and asked him, "What message does my Lord [d] have for his servant?" 15 The commander of the LORD's army replied, "Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy." And Joshua did so.

Looking at yesterday's and today's passage, we can see how the Lord guides the Israelites step-by-step. By doing so, God wants the Israelites to remember that it was HE who brought them out of Egypt to lead them to Canaan. In verse 15, the angel tells Joshua to "take off his sandals for the place where stands is holy." At this command, Joshua obeys the angel really does take off his sandals before the holy presence of the Lord. This shows how Joshua truly reveres and acknowledges the Lordship of the Almighty God. In the same way, we should think about how seriously we take God's word when it comes to down to us. Further, I believe we should be thankful that God is watching out for us every day and guiding each footstep that we take, as He did with the Israelites.
