1 Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, "Abraham!" "Here I am," he replied.
2 Then God said, "Take your son, your only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains I will tell you about."
3 Early the next morning Abraham got up and saddled his donkey. He took with him two of his servants and his son Isaac. When he had cut enough wood for the burnt offering, he set out for the place God had told him about. 4 On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance. 5 He said to his servants, "Stay here with the donkey while I and the boy go over there. We will worship and then we will come back to you."

Here we go...We can see the "first test of faith" for Abraham, as God wants to see and check his faithfulness and obedience toward Him...I heard in the past that the region of Moriah was not far away from where Abraham and his family lived. Hence, it's a little surprising that Abraham reached that place on the third day, according to verse 4. The reason for this delay could be that Abraham hesitated again and again until he finally overcame the fear and doubt and headed out toward Moriah. Though I don't have a child and don't know how it feels to lose one, I am pretty sure that Abraham was very troubled in his spirit and devastated since the Lord commanded him to do something that was beyond his imagination.
